Yes you are correct that you can actually do all those with R as well. But the idea I wanted to convey is that R is "specialized" for statistical data analysis, while Python is more general purpose and hence more versatile. Although, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter which you chose. To be a good data scientist, or just specialize in an aspect of it, you would ultimately need to know both to some extent.
